Most of the games played in the league are multiplayer games and require you to have a team (clan) of several players in order to compete. These teammates can be friends, colleagues or simply acquaintances who you have met playing the game online -- whoever you choose. With the exception of titles such as FIFA 2010 and Guitar Hero, you will be required to have a clan in order to enter.
How do I join or setup a clan?
Clans require a fair amount of management and coordination in order to be successful. If you are a first-time entrant to the league, we strongly suggest that you join an existing clan (and get to grips with what is involved for a few months) before setting up your own clan. If you are looking to join a clan, you can post a topic on the Do Gaming Forums or simply ask the people you play with online whether they are recruiting players. Remember, the first clan you join will probably not be your last! Players regularly move from one clan to another until they find a group of players who suit your gaming style and personality.
What type of computer/Internet connection do I need?
Gamers are required to have an ADSL (or equivalent) Internet connection in order to play in the league. Do Broadband offers extremely competitive ADSL packages suitable for play.
As far as your computer goes, it depends entirely on which game you choose to enter. Do Gaming strongly suggests that you check the game requirements before purchasing it and play it on your computer several times before deciding to enter the league.
If I enter, how often do I play?
Teams usually have one match allocated per week (with one pick & play match per leg). This means that you and your team can expect to play no more than two or three hours of matches per week. Depending on how many teams are entered into your division, you may find that you have "byes" (weeks without any games).
Why isn't my favourite game included?
Do Gaming scrupulously investigates all popular gaming titles before deciding which games to include in the league. Unfortunately, some games are more popular online than others and we choose to support those which have the most gamers competing. Other factors such as server availability, spectator value and the age of the game also play a role in our decision. If you believe your favourite game should be featured, garner some support in the Do Gaming Forums and we'll see what we can do!
How does the Leg/Division structure work?
Think of it like a Football Premier League! In the Do Gaming League, each "leg" is a period of six to eight weeks during which teams play against each other on a weekly basis. At the end of each leg, your team will move up and down between the divisions based on the result you achieved. This helps to balance the teams out and makes sure that the newer teams gain some experience before moving up to tackle the heavyweights at the top! Some games have more divisions than others, but you will find the better teams higher in the Premier League and the newer teams towards the Second and Third Divisions.
