Tutorial: How do I enter Do Gaming Leagues?

IMPORTANT NOTICE:
It is important that you follow these instructions and complete every step carefully. You cannot complete your entry until this process is completed! Applies to team games only.

This tutorial outlines the five easy steps needed to register you and your team for the Telkom Do Gaming League. Provided that your team members do their bit, this should take no longer than 25 minutes to complete.

Step 1. Register a Do Gaming account and login

  • If you don't already have a Do Gaming account, head over to the signup page and fill in the form on the left. You'll need to have a real email address and a validation link will be emailed to you, to verify your email is working.
  • If you already have a Do Gaming site account (or an AGASA account), you can simply login at the top of the page with your account details

Step 2. Create your Clan on Do Gaming

  • Once logged in, you will see a link called Other Controls in your personal menu on the left of the page. Click it to reveal the Register Clan link.
  • At the Register Clan page, read all of the instructions on the page.
  • Input your clan name (the full name), prefix (clan tag) and unique URL tag (usually just an abbreviation of your clan name). Then click on Register Clan.
  • Important: Once the clan is created you must set a password. This password is what you will give out to your clan members, so make it something simple and easy to remember.
  • You can also fill out the other personal details of your clan, but these are mostly optional.

Step 3. Get your members to register and join the clan

  • All of your members need to also register/login to their Do Gaming/AGASA account. They need to first follow Step 1 above to login.
  • You need to give each of your members the clan password and a link to your clan page on Do Gaming (this is shown to you at the top of the Edit Clan page).
  • Each of your members must login, go to your clan page and click on the green link called: "Join Clan". They then input the password and their job is complete!
  • It is helpful if your members add profile details such as their name, age and contact telephone number as these are frequently required in order to join a tournament.
  • After all of your members have completed Step 3, then you can move on to finish the last two quick steps!

Step 4. Create a team for the game you wish to enter

  • Clans can have multiple teams which can contain different sets of players. Think of it as the "clan" being a Football Club (such as Man Utd.) and the "team" being as football squad (the specific team of players going to the 2010 World Cup).
  • Click on the "Edit" link next to your clan (on your Personal Menu). Scroll to the bottom of the Edit Clan page and click on "Create New Team".
  • Give the team a name, specify the game they play and select a unique team prefix (examples are given on the page).
  • Then add all of the relevant team members to the team and give them positions. You MUST also select the manager (who can be a player too), but will be responsible for coordinating your match bookings.
  • Once all of your members have been added, move on to Step 5!

Step 5. Enter the Do Gaming League!

  • You're almost done! Go to the League Games page and click on the game you wish to enter.
  • You can only enter a competition if you are the team leader/manager and your team has sufficient members (i.e. five players for COD4/CS:S/HoN/etc.).
  • There is a link on the Tournament Stage page (labelled "Your Entry Status") which will allow you to enter. If you receive an error, read it carefully and attempt to fix the problems!
  • Once you have completed this step, you will receive a message confirming your entry and your team will show up on the Entries/Reservations list. You will receive a Tournament Announcement by email when the league begins. Be sure to read all the rules and have your team ready for matches!
